You need a nose peg or slayer helmet to fight them. The nose peg needs 60 Slayer, and boosts don't count. Protect from Magic or dragonhide helps. They're undead, so a salve amulet adds damage and accuracy. Safespots need six spaces between you, so only ranged or magic work there.
